Hey love, you wont believe the turn my life took a couple of years back. Two years ago everything just flipped upsidedown my dad passed away and, after twenty years of marriage, I finally got a divorce.
I moved back into my dads old cottage in the countryside because Id been made redundant. I was almost forty and honestly felt like the chances of landing a decent job or finding someone new were pretty slim.
Then the universe kept throwing curveballs. The roof, patched up by a local handyman, started leaking every time it rained. I was too knackered to haul firewood, and when the carpenters came to replace the windows they left the job halfdone, so drafts were blowing straight in.
To keep warm I was gathering pine cones and even using a stack of books as kindling. Then the power went out and I had to turn the heating off completely. The bloke who ran the pub across the road kept popping over with offers to help I wasnt sure whether to laugh or cry.
I thought things couldnt get any worse, and then, out of the blue, everything started looking up.
One chilly morning I spotted a dusty old bus pull into the tiny stop by the village green. A bloke with messy hair, wearing a workshirt and overalls, stepped off. His name was Jack Turner, a roofrepair specialist. He asked if I needed a hand, and I admitted I did, though I had nothing to pay him with.
He said, Whenever youve got a few quid, well sort it out, and got straight to work. He fixed the leaking roof, sorted the busted tap, replaced the water meter, repaired the fence, patched up the stairs and even put new panes in the windows.
One night, when the coldest frost hit, I came home to find the hearth glowing and a steaming mug of herbal tea waiting for me. It felt like a miracle exactly what my frosty throat and freezing feet needed.
I knew right then that Jack was my hero, and I was trying to figure out the best way to thank him. Hes talented but humble, so I wont even mention his surname the village is small and everyone knows him anyway.
Now the cottage and garden look like theyve had a mans touch all over them. With my prince nearby, the house feels warm, Im truly happy, and honestly, Im scared I might lose him.
